Dance

The cover of Demelza Carlton's Dance features a young woman in a white robe with rose petals blowing around her and littering the ground at her feet.

Dance by Demelza Carlson–a review.

While Dance claims to be a Cinderella retelling, it also has elements of The Twelve Dancing Princesses.

The two stories combine beautifully in an Asian setting with a warrior-trained girl as the main character.  Mai manages to be humble and confident at the same time, a difficult, but believable mix in this environment.  I enjoyed her story very much, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a bit of magic in a non-western setting.
