I received Trickster’s Girl by Hilari Bell in my RMFW conference swag bag (love those).
Though I enjoyed Ms. Bell’s Goblin War story more, I found Trickster’s Girl engaging and well-written. My preference probably has less to do with the books themselves and more to do with my reading taste. (I like straight-up fantasy a better than Native-American-religion-tinged urban fantasy.)
I also tend to get turned off by preachiness of any variety, and the environmental message here bordered on that a few times. Not enough to make me dislike the book, but enough that I noticed it.
However, this book had strong characters and a good story. Well worth the reading. (And if you like urban fantasy and environmentally-themed work, you’ll probably enjoy it even more than I did.)
